Sometimes a hosta has been known for a number of years under one name e.g. H. ‘On Stage’ but evidence arises that it was named something else at an earlier date. That earlier name takes precedence so H. ‘On Stage’ should more properly be known as H. ‘Choko Nishiki’ its earlier Japanese name.
